“Our Country Garden” by Robert DuncanRobert Duncan is one of my favorite living artists. I enjoy the familial aspect of his paintings (his family members are his favorite subjects). They resonate with warmth and beauty. This scene could be almost anywhere five miles from my home. You can see other Robert Duncan works here.
“My paintings
reflect the things I love. My subjects are usually family members and
friends in neighborhood surroundings. I also paint out of a concern that
we are losing sight of the things that have a profound impact on our souls
and well-being. We seem to be in a mad rush to progress, but there are
some things that haven’t been improved upon for centuries. If each of
us contributes just a little, we can preserve the things that matter.
We all need nature in our lives. We need fresh air and open spaces. I
think just to drive by a farm and see cows grazing in a field does a soul
good. And children need to be nurtured in loving families.”– Robert Duncan

That’s a beautiful painting! I love the detail in the flowers. Mine’s up now, too. http://www.amylovesbud.blogspot.com
His works are beautiful. My surgeon has them up in his office because they remind him of his home.
Dear Carol,
Yesterday I received an email from an artist, Glenn Sanderson. He kindly chastized me for posting his work without his permission. Eek! I wrote an apology to him….but I wanted to let you know that I learned something…..living artists would like permission before we post. Did you know this? I thought a link and name was sufficient….not so.
Do you seek permission?
Donna
Charming scene…..
It is so interesting to learn about the artistic tastes of my friends. It is broadening my horizons.

PS About permissions….I was warned by my cousin, the poet, about posting her work. Hence, I havent. If anyone finds the rules written down somewhere, let me know. And thank goodness, my mother and daughter dont mind. Or I guess they dont mind my posting their works.
PPS I have had someone ask me to remove the link to a blog from my website though.
Ay-yi-yi!! I just wrote an email asking for permission and volunteering to delete this entry if he would like. Yikes!! Like Dana says, where does one find out about these things? Thanks for the tip, Donna. I really, really appreciate it.
I loved both AmylovesBud and Kristin’s posts.
Yes, I remember clearly when you went to the *grocery store* and found that great book of Mary Cassat’s works. :0)
I am ALL FOR giving credit where credit is due, but it *would help* to have it written somewhere! I’ll ask Archie. He’s helped me with the copyright stuff for school. When I was trying to copy one of Millet’s pictures to my site ‘they’ very kindly asked me not to with this very nice, obvious yellow and red note and didn’t allow it to be copied. :0)
Carol,
I spoke with the artist again today. I think he googled his own name and my blog with his artwork came up sixth in the list….so he clicked on my site and spoted his copyrighted work on my site. He says that as a copyrighted piece of work, he has all rights to his property and it should be clear that no one may “take” it…just because it is on the internet.
The artist was really fair with me seeing I believe I was in the wrong. I offered to remove it and he said I may leave it up. It was embarrassing to be ‘caught’ this way. But I am glad to know now.
So do you think we can post all of the dead artists without any problem?
I’m so glad you were able to spend time with them! I’m thankful for their prayers. —What’s with Kentucky anyway??????? It used to be just this State that you read about- Why would people want to leave here to move there? Go figure
