Happy Birthday Bro!
It’s my brotha’s birthday! My youngest brother, Dan, the opera singer. He introduced me to the concept of blogging, although he doesn’t have one of his own. “Lurker extraordinaire” is what he calls himself. He installed Firefox on my computer and showed me how to open many blogs in tabs. Most of what I know about computers I learned from him .
We two were the caboose of a large family. We didn’t always get along, but those days of adolescent bickering are almost impossible to remember now. It seems that we’ve always shared friends, more so today than ever. He gave me one of my best friends when he married the beautiful Valeri. We spend at least one week together every year: a festival of feasting, cooking, reading, talking, listening and sharing. How he got to be an opera singer is story for another day. He sings the big arias and requiems with gusto; when he approaches the end of the Lord’s Prayer the goosebumps break out; but when he sings Children of the Heavenly Father a capella I can only close my eyes and weep.
But I have this against my brother: he reads my blog every day but he will. not. comment. I know, Xanga is a pain in the patooie. However, if Martin Luther could post 95 theses on the Wittenburg Door dontcha think my brother could post one comment on this blog? Would you join my campaign to convince Dan to comment?
First, he needs a Xanga name. Any suggestions out there? GodLovesTenors? You all can do better than that, no? Pictures aren’t necessary, but here are some possibilities. Which one would you pick?
Happy Birthday, dear Danny. I love you more than the crisp clear air in the blue, blue sky today.

Happy Birthday to Danny from Dana in GA!
Hmmmm, Carol. Is it really worth *forcing him* into commenting. If I may be sexist, men are funny about their use of words, ya know. We use about 12,000 per day to their 1200 and you wouldnt want to deprive dear Valeri of her sacred few
I do like the name Godlovestenors
or from the first picture I thought ogoulishone, but the last photo probably reveals his personality better than the first. Perhaps dannyboy?
I think some of my five siblings read my blog. They never comment either.
Oh, Dana, you have a new name: Dana the Wise. I think you have a new friend too! And I really like dannyboy and ogoulishone made me laugh outloud. Dannyboy might be taken but I think ogoulishone is probably available. Thanks for joining in on the fun!
Happy Birthday to Danny from Maxine in SC! It is my mother’s 81st today! May you sing till then. She taught herself classical piano. How about “highnote”, though Godlovestenors has a good vib to it. Oh go ahead and make her day Danny, leave her a note, something you can compose quickly to jazz up her day. (oh oh maybe jazz is the wrong phrase) I’m sure there is a blog in the air just waiting to thrill us all.
Happy Birthday Maxine’s mother! I’d love to hear her play the piano. Give her best wishes from Carol in Oregon. We have the makings for a party, don’t we!
How about the turban pic and dannybaba, or arabiantenor?
Happy Birthday DHarp! May there be many pipes & pints left in you!
I like dannyboy too. AND Godlovestenors. Take heart, only one of my six children and one of my nine grandchildren has ever bothered to look at my blog. And I never know if they have because they go there from the Subscription digest and that doesn’t reveal itself in the Footprints. I’m not sure if I ever told my siblings – yes, I think I told my sisters – that I have a blog. It didn’t even register! Oh well….
Happy Birthday, Danny! (sung in my best untrained voice:))
Enjoy your day!
I have only two connections with opera. I took an “Opera for the Curious” as a quick graduate class which caused me to rather enjoy it. Second, our primary babysitter in MS years ago received a complete scholarship to attend Yale as a graduate student in opera performance. She still lives up there, is still single the last I heard, and has a beautiful voice.
Carol, maybe you could offer to make Danny a xanga page to ease the pain.

Ok, OK! I signed up already!! I don’t have a quirky, snazzy name for my blog but at least I can leave comments.
Thanks for the very nice birthday greeting — I’m very flattered and pleased.
Oh, DANNY! Welcome! I didn’t think you really would! (silly grin which won’t go away). Happy Birthday! (still smiling) I love you, man. (I will wake up in the middle of the night giggling) Thank. you.
Yay! The petition worked! He signed up! That picture of Uncle Danny dressed up as the skin head with the long curly beard is freaky! Happy Birth day! Wow – his birth day is on Halloween… what are the chances… ;o)
Happy Belated Birthday, Danny. I personally like the skin head/curly beard photo also. Carol, congrats on coaxing your brother out of lurking. I am sure I could not coax either of my brothers to do ANYTHING (unless I had free tickets to a Cardinals game and asked them to go with me!).
