  • Most Exciting Game – Ever!

The first football game I watched this season was the Fiesta Bowl last night. I’m convinced that it is The Best football game I’ll ever see.  Boise State (the good guys) beat Oklahoma 43-42 in overtime.  Writers will be scrambling for adjectives to describe the range of emotions both teams experienced during the four hours of drama.  21 points were scored in the last 86 seconds of regulation play!!  You can read a recap here.  After the daring and dramatic two-point conversion, using a trick play, Boise State remained undefeated.  Their QB grew up 1 1/2 hours away from our home, so there is some euphoria over a local boy turned hero.

The player who ran in the winning play, Ian Johnson, was being interviewed immediately after the game. A cheerleader was nestled under his arm, grinning and looking at the camera.  My daughter-in-law looked at me and asked what I had been wondering, “Do you think that’s his girlfriend or just some cheerleader who wants more air time?”   Next thing, as the nation is focused on him, he takes a knee and asks her to marry him!!  “Uh, I can’t be sure, but it looks like she’s his girlfriend,” I replied.

So ends my sports blog. Tomorrow: Diet advice from St. Augustine.

  • Aaawww, how sweet!

No cable here, so I didnt see that game.  Sounds very exciting though.

*Diet advice* …..I’ll be back, esp since I’ve picked up three pounds from Christmas, Wedding, and New Years!  Yike!!

  • Here’s a comment from a total opposite side of that football game:  I was at my friend, Judy’s house, making greeting cards with her, while Rick, her husband, had football games going non-stop from 5:30 p.m. on (she later told me he’d been watching football all day while working on their home improvement projects).  Near the end I felt myself getting annoyed at the voices of the commentators and the football players, until Rick came in and told us about the upset win and the wedding proposal.  We gave out a peremptory, “Awwww!” and went back to working on our cards……

  • You know I love sports blogs.;) We didn’t get the game, either, but I always enjoy barn-burners.

Can’t wait to hear St. Augustine’s diet advice. I’m going to ease back into Fat Flush, but not until after this weekend. Luke and I are going to visit my parents and I know my stepmom will have things too good to miss. I will start the cranberry juice and stop the coffee next week. I’m convinced most of the 10 pounds I’ve put on are due to the coffee, since I didn’t put it on until I started drinking coffee daily again around November 1. Can you believe I keep drinking it? Caffeine addict, that’s me…..sigh.

  • Okay first things first.  Hurray for Boise State!!!!.  My mom is an Idaho native!!!

  • Hey Aunt Carol,

I agree with you, that was the best game ever!! Dad and I watched it at our local “Wingers” since we didn’t have the channel. It was very very scary, but amazing!!!   GO BRONCOS!!!!

  • Traci,

We were thinking of your family the entire game. It was TOO MUCH FUN to call and talk with your Mom and Dad afterwards. I could see your Dad’s smile over the phone lines!! This morning I talked with a friend about it for a half hour on the phone.

Can you imagine being in Boise when the team arrives home? Oh my, the town will go C-R-A-Z-Y.
I’m so impressed with the coach: his steadiness and balance.

    Love you,

    Aunt Carol

  • I am really happy for you and your team!!!!

Did you see our Brett crying after the Bears game?
