  • Fine Art Friday – Mary Cassatt

    The Map, 1890

Mary Cassatt has always been one of my favorites.  And who better to highlight so close to Mother’s Day?  I just discovered these prints using a technique called drypoint.

    These two are color drypoints.

    Happy Mother’s Day!

  • My next book up (once I finish the one I’m reading) is “Lydia Cassatt Reading the Morning Paper” which is historical fiction about Mary and Lydia. I can’t wait to read it.

She’s one of my favorites, and I’m looking forward to learning more about her.

  • I don’t recall seeing her b&w before; always enjoy expanding my inner gallery! Mary C brings back memories because I had a baby book for my daughter with her artwork in it.

  • Ahh, Mary Cassatt, already my heart is glad! :0)

  • she has been popular with me since discovering this painting when Miss Dog Lover was a toddler…. http://explorepahistory.com/displayimage.php?imgId=509 — the little one on Mom’s lap looks just like Miss Dog Lover did.  :)

  • @TobyBo - That’s a nice piece that isn’t as well-known as some of Cassatt’s other paintings.  Thanks for the link.
